In case you cared: the future of the Beej

Congrats, Dems. You won the senate race. Of course, if people really knew who Ken Buck and Michael Bennet were, they would have chosen Ken hands down. You successfully managed to use the corrupt Dem machine to take down a good man and replace him with a dishonest patsy. Welcome to politics as usual (or worse than usual).

However, on the whole things were good for Republicans. We won 4 out of 7 U.S. House seats, and took the state House too. Yes, we won. Recounts aren’t going to change that. So in the larger sense, my goals were achieved. The revolution has been started, and you can bet we’ll be gunning for you in 2012 and 2014. Sadly, there’s nothing can be done about the senate and governor’s spots for four years. Change takes time, but it will come.

As far as Pols goes, it has been my honor to serve in the trenches with H-man, colawman, Libertad, Laughing Boy, marilou, JLD, No2Dems, etc (apologies if I forgot someone). I also appreciate the half-hearted agreement on a few things from some of the lackluster moderates. I’ll be around in the future, but you probably won’t see much of me on this site for a while. As many before me who no longer comment have probably discovered, the abuse on this site is very unpleasant. I was glad to take one for the team during the elections but I have no desire to subject myself to continuing harassment, especially given the fact that there’s not much I can accomplish here. If you’re a diehard fan and can’t live without your Beej fix in the morning, you’ll be able to find me frequenting more friendly haunts such as PPC (www.peoplespresscollective.org), RedState (www.redstate.com), and facebook. How will you know who I am? Right, like that’s any big secret. I’m sick of being outed.

And V-ger, your check is on the way. I’ll just send it to your place of work unless you’d like to give me a different address.

  1. I know how much you love this site, so I will take this as a measure of how big a disappointment Election Day was. That, and just being so very, very wrong.

  2. Then clearly you should have been more careful about posting all your identifying information yourself on the forum and–perhaps–chosen an anonymous moniker?  But good luck and, honestly I hope, good riddance.

  3. but learn how to temper it with logic and rational thought. You’ll do fine.

I was young and stupid once. I could beej things up with the best worst of them.

It does get better. Really. I promise.

Best of luck on your dissertation research.

  4. Just send it to

You can make it out to “cash” or just leave the pay to line blank.  I don’t mind giving you my real name but don’t want it all over the blog.

Not to gloat, but my advice in the future is not to count your chickens before they hatch.  As the Paper that Dares not be named recounts, Bennet won this with his ground game.  We had 1,900 volunteers canvassing election day alone.  I worked phones five hours and believe I managed to get four or five extra folks to the polls that day.   If everyone did that, that’s 10,000 votes.  And we did the same for mail-in and early ballot.

Perhaps too much boasting of impending victory offends the election gods, maybe it just takes time away from hard work.  But, having written my share of lines I’d like back, a few of them to you, I’d like to quote the immortal words of the late, great Everett Dirkson:

“I try to keep my words soft and melliferous, because I know I may be called upon to eat them someday.”

    Pax

          1. probably the most damaging were Buck himself on tape, as in

“[Vote for me] because I DON’T wear high heels.”

[Re: outlawing abortion.]  “And I’ll answer the next question: I don’t believe in exceptions for rape and incest.”

His support for Amendment 62, followed by buckpedaling on it.

And my personal favorite “Somebody tell those dumb asses in the Tea Party to stop asking about Obama’s birth certificate.”

And, most damaging of all, “Buyer’s remorse,” an egregious characterization of a victim’s motive, even though his actual action in not prosecuting was defensible from the standards of burden of proof and reasonable doubt.

        1. I basically only bet on sure things and always say bennet/buck as a tossup.

I did frequently offer to double the bet on Hick since beej immediately started boasting about how tank would win.  But he never put his money where his hubris was on that one.

      1. To my knowledge, I have never called you a name, although I have disagreed with you vehemently, most of the time. I took offense when people used profanity to bully you. It’s not my style.

I take offense at your accusation, too. No one lied about Ken Buck. Ken Buck’s statements were all from Ken Buck. Thank G-d for hand-held video. If you are a serious GOP politico, you may want to advise your party to get another rich, white guy next time who DOESN’T hate women.

Ken Buck lost because Ken Buck is a mysogynist. I thank my lucky stars the good bloggers on Pols got the word out.

Be well, BJ. See you around in a year or two.

  5. ….you weren’t in any trenches or fought any good battles.

You’re just a candy-ass graduate student who’s only possible claim to fame is making a shortcut sheet for running simulations in SAS.

You spewed your fundamentalist frogwash across this website with a complete lack of critical thinking skills, fact-checking or even a modicum of basic writing skills i’d expect from a College Freshman.

When you were repeated proved horribly and absolutely wrong on a number of points, instead of humbling chalking it up to the experience and skills of the people here, you went to a virtual snit and posted the blog equivalent of “I know you are, but what am I?”

But I’m glad your taking your butt-hurt self and going on the road to another virtual pasture, where you’re free to splatter-ass your shit across the html landscape.

And lastly, Beej, we are not done. I can’t wait for my trip up to (REDACTED) to brief the students, faculty and staff about PTSD and TBI in veterans students on Nov 12th. I’m sure the OIF Vet who’s the head of the student group will glad to hear your views about “your important work” compared to his sacrifices, and this will give you a week to prepare your defense against my obvious misquoting of you.

    It’s only fair, after all.

      1. …I have no intention of going anywhere near this whiny-ass loser.

Instead, I am hoping he uses this moment to learn the critical process of “engage brain before releasing mouth.”

      1. Then if you’re in any condition to type, please let us know about your near-death experience you had at the hands of multiple pissed-off combat vets.

    1. I recall seeing one occurring on the 12th down at Metro State as well?  Is this the same event or are there simultaneous events occurring elsewhere in the state.

Not that I want to hear another speil on the subject, but it’s important to get the information out.

Though I imagine if BJ attended a session he’d probably fear for his life because of the burly men around him.  He may get assaulted after all.

      1. Yes, the one on the 12th is at (Redacted). We have to keep the locations secret or else it might out the Beej!

We’re planning more over the next two months to try and get the info out before the darkest parts of winter, and at least before one major holiday.

We’ll then have some bigger, better sessions next year.

      1. Really there were a lot of factors as to why Buck lost. First of all, there was the diary by H-Man talking about some polls, then there was the BJ diary about the 850 KOA show, and then there was the whole “OutingGate” scandal.

I mean, Pols was a veritable garden for Buck-related blog scandals–scandals that surely decided the race for Bennet.

        1. it’s probably the KHOW diary that tipped it to Bennet. That was such a moronic piece of tripe, even white men were rushing to disassociate themselves from any candidate that was supposed to support.

That and marilou’s constant vulgarity. Probably responsible for a good 5,000 votes swung Bennet’s way to get as far as possible from that piece of work.

          1. That this Senate race was won or lost on these pages. It’s clear that Colorado Pols swayed so many unaffiliated, low-information voters. In the end, it was just that people didn’t blog enough on the Republican side.

Don’t you hate that feeling when you lose a close race, and you’re thinking to yourself “If only I’d written one more comment, or refreshed Pols just one more time.” Ah, what might have been.

            1. what exactly are you saying??? you’re not really making any sense to me. I feel like the world is getting fuzzy and things are going out of focus…must…maintain…delusions…

  6. It will be nice to be able to take a step back from the election though and have some more reasoned conversation.

This cycle brought me close to several new state house members and I will certainly pop in to defend my friends when it’s needed.

I’m sure once we’re seperated from the passion of the election season you guys won’t find me to be nearly so shrill as you did during the past month or two.

I look forward to it, even if some posters here don’t  😉

  7. There’s a reason why people like Laughing Boy, cologeek, and many other conservatives who post on this site are not treated like you were. It’s because they treat human beings with respect–whether they disagree with them or not.

I might not agree with them at all, but they actually respect the people who post here. You never showed anyone here even an ounce of respect from day one. Even during brief moments when you showed yourself to be something other than a troll, you still treated people to far more abuse than you received.

Your self-importance, your narcissism, and your all-around… I can’t think of any other way to put this. Let’s just say that some people act like assholes on Pols, but they’re really not bad people in real life. I think you’re one of those people. And you might be their king.

If you ever decide you want to treat people with respect, I look forward to your (inevitable) return. I know you can’t quit us.

    1. LB and cologeek have always shown respect and therefore received respect in return. This giving and receiving of respect is not just applicable to the conservatives either. We, as adults, all usually follow this model. It’s called living in the real world. I can see why Beej was unfamiliar with it.

Good luck in life Beej. With your obvious narcissism and possible mental instability you’re gonna need it.

    2. What about David? He shows respect — he oozes respect from his pores! He’s a rock-ribbed conservative who rises above trolling most of the time (except when he’s pimping out one of his keyword SEO experiments). Let’s not forget that conservative! Oh, and Ali Hasan. Him too.

      1. is an ideology unto himself. But I don’t think anyone ever accused him of a lack of respect. Perhaps a surplus.

And I forgot Ali. He puts up with a lot of abuse, and still wishes everyone peace and love.

        1. He’s always so generous and quick to point out others’ good points (even for those who I don’t think deserve it). What’s up with that?

(To his credit, I don’t recall him ever having said a positive thing about me.)

            1. I look forward to meeting you some day and having the opportunity to buy the first round.

All the best to you and yours, Ali, you misguided humanity loving Colorado-American.

  8. In any other year Buck would not have been credible.

    another aside

I suppose Colorado is so soft on crime (snark) that a convicted drunk and hit and run driver can win a statewide election.

Look, some times you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you.

    That’s democracy.

  9. I think you are the first one to return,…

Meanwhile, since you love H-Man and GOPWariorr, how about you pay off for them and collect from them?

Whatever abuse you received was mostly created by you.  Some day you’ll see it in someone else, but you need to to see it in yourself.

Hardly anyone here attacked you for claiming to be conservative nor for your politics. Though we attacked your politics.  Define conservatism in 800-1200 words.   No talking points, no straw man.  It will be FP’d and welcomed.

    1. I saw the “In case you cared” and thought, “Well that’s sure as hell not me.”

And then I got to thinking, “Since I’ve never cared one whit what this clown thought about anything ever, why should now I care that he’s putting up something exclusive only to people who might care?”

Then it just got confusing . . .

So what was your question (and why are the hell are you posting it on this thread)?

  10. Beej – I’m sorry to see you go

For the rest of you – please have some class –

    1. Give BJ credit – he did CONGRATULATE the Democrats – believe me, I know many Republicans who don’t – well done BJ

    2. BJ, although aggressive, and at times, very insulting, is definitely a CPols BALLER – you gotta give him that credit

Sorry to see you go, Beej – on the other hand, it sounds like your studies are gonna be keeping you busy

Love and peace brother – I pray the future brings prosperity and wisdom

    1. … but he qualified his congratulations with unfounded accusations that the Bennet campaign and supporters lied about Buck and smeared him. That makes it rather insincere, and entirely in keeping with his character.

I respect people who fight fair, but not anyone who himself is such an disingenuous liar as beej is, no matter how tough he hanged.

He made his bed with his braggadocio and he’s running away because he can’t stand to lie in it. Really, I can’t see a single thing to respect about this guy.

      1. He made his bed with his braggadocio and he’s running away because he can’t stand to lie in it.

Can be used in so many situations about so many people.  I might steal that someday.

With that, I’ll issue my first response in weeks to the Beej.

        1. Loved to sing with everyone else in the student section it in the stadium when the Nittany Lions were pummeling the other team.

          Very fond memory.

  11. good riddance. Frankly bj hitting and running like you are admitting to, is really just showing your true nature. you cannot accept responsibility for your self, your party nor when you are Proven wrong.

go hang with like minded people on other blogs and be just another echo in the gop echo chamber and pat yourselves on the back. (what is it now, up to 30 Billion and half of the Navy going to the far east accompanying Obama?)

I prefer Pols here as I am corrected from time to time, My Ideas are respected and I am not chastised for thinking independently.

Truth and cold hard Facts are the norm here.

Reality does have a Liberal Bias. you just cant handle reality.

          1. I know Joni Mitchell was singing about Geffen in “Free Man in Paris”, but hadn’t heard that about Carly, and I really think this song came out right after Carly and Warren had a pretty effed up relationship when she was new on that scene.

            From Wikipedia

            Warren Beatty

In a 1989 interview, Simon acknowledged that the song is a little bit about Warren Beatty but said that the subject of the song is a composite of three men from her L.A. days.[4] In a 2007 interview, Beatty said, “Let’s be honest. That song was about me.”[5] Simon has said that Beatty had called and thanked her for the song.[6]

  12. I’d say I made quite a difference. 60 comments about my future? Thanks guys. And thanks for the kind words Hasan. Despite our differences over illegal immigration and the NYC mosque, I think you are a great guy. Regarding your article today about the future of the GOP:

Republicans have no problem with Latinos, and in fact share the socially conservative views many of them have. Several people I worked with in the GOP this election cycle were Latinos. However, illegal immigration is a problem. Why do the laws not apply to illegal immigrants? How come they can just waltz across the border without any respect for the law and then make some claim to power by voting in Democrats who wink at their crimes? Some of these guys, like the guy who killed a kid in Tancredo’s ad, have rap sheets a mile long but are never deported and simply released to wreak havoc on our society. Not to mention the drugs, gangs, and security issue loose borders represent – it’s very easy for Al Quaeda to sneak across the border.

As far as gays, a large block of the GOP are socially conservative Christians. According to the Bible, homosexuality is not an “alternative lifestyle” but a sin that God detests. I’m sorry if that offends you, but there is just no way to reconcile Christianity with homosexuality. You can say that the government shouldn’t be involved in legislating morality on that issue, which is largely the position most people in the GOP take, but it would be offensive to many to have the word “marriage” redefined to include homosexuality. Actually, I believe Islam is even more anti-gay than Christianity – how in the world do Democrats reconcile those groups?

Which brings us to the last group, Muslims. The GOP has no problem with law abiding Muslims. The problem, of course, is fundamentalist Muslims who attack our country in the name of jihad and call us the Great Satan. Yes, there are some moderates like you, but there is a large enough faction of Muslims worldwide who interpret the Koran (quite accurately, in my opinion) as commanding warfare against Christians and Jews to cause us to be constantly worried about terrorist attacks. Every time there is another attack or attempted attack, it does not make people happy about Islam, especially the defense hawks in the GOP. Until worldwide reforms occur in Islam (I don’t think this is very likely), radical Islamic terrorism will continue to be a problem.

So I think that the GOP has no problem with these groups as long as they A) play by the same rules as the rest of us and B) leave the traditional definition of marriage alone. You can do whatever you want in your bedroom and have the same rights as anyone else; just don’t call it marriage, which to most Christians, Jews, and Muslims is instituted by God.

    1. You just know how to push our buttons. Like lying about how illegal immigrants voted in elections, some patently absurd for one reason – they risk detection and deportation if they go anywhere near something governmental. And naturally you won’t have links supporting your assertion other than ones to discredited rumor-mongering blogs whose only sources are other discredited rumor-mongering blogs, like the SEIU nonsense.

I don’t need to kick your arguments in one by one like I have in the past. We disproved them once before and you haven’t brought anything new. A Big Lie is a Big Lie is a Big Lie. Repeating it will never make it true.

Welcome back from your self imposed exile of less than one day. Just another beej lie.

          1. I do wanna run again, eventually, but work in California is going well and I’m likely to register here soon – I could always come back, but I gotta admit – I really adore California

As far as cringing, well… I’ll always be a fiscal conservative, my brother

              1. However, I’ve had a love affair with Orange County ever since I got my Masters in Film Directing at the Dodge College here in Orange

In particular, the love of my life is Huntington Beach

If my film career keeps progressing out here, I’ll forever be a happy man – perhaps run for City Council someday?

                🙂

                1. my ex-sister-in-law lives in OC and I don’t think she’d live anywhere else. She loves it.

Good luck with the film career. What part of the industry are you working in (which side of the camera)?

                  1. I’m very lucky, as my last film stormed the indie film circuit – we won 36 awards and my last screenplay won 3 solid ones

I’m working with a great Producer right now on the biopic of Benazir Bhutto – nothing set in stone, but so far, so good

    2. Shit, I set up a user name and joined just to respond to you…maybe I need to follow you to another blog.

There are many right of center folks on this site that are the type with whom I can have a good conversation and relatively civil debate. Yet I choose, after lurking for three (or more) years, to sign up and respond to you. You must be honored.

Answers to a few questions that you posed:

Why do the laws not apply to illegal immigrants?

They do apply. But with limited resources we have to make choices. Do we, as a country, with our limited resources, focus on deportation of immigrants, or do we focus on the war on drugs, or do we focus on the rape crimes, or do we focus on the violence against children? Prioritize, and then figure out what gets the funding. Because, really, money is needed to resolve these issues. Oh yeah…don’t forget funding the infrastructure. Need to get on that too.

But no, taxes are too high for you and you don’t want to spend the money to solve the basic problems, much less the complex ones like illegal immigration.

How come they can just waltz across the border without any respect for the law and then make some claim to power by voting in Democrats who wink at their crimes?

No one waltzes across the border. They struggle and pay with their lives sometimes. And I challenge you, graduate student, to cite any of the scholarly literature that demonstrates any state or national office was compromised by the voting of illegal immigrants.

Actually, I believe Islam is even more anti-gay than Christianity – how in the world do Democrats reconcile those groups?

For someone that is so incredibly prejudice against Islam and any non-Christian, this statement cannot be verified or taken seriously except by citation from legitimate religious studies scholar(s).

In short BJ, you have never had a single contributing post on this blog. And yes, it is left leaning, and yes, it seems like it would be tough to be a right leaning poster here, but you are a fanatical asshole of the highest order. You are an embarrassment to the fine institution that I am proud to be a graduate of.

      Finally fuck you.

      1. and stick around.

Your troll can’t escape this site, even if he wanted to (and he doesn’t really want to — he’s about self-absorbtion, drama, and is in quite an amusing pout right now).

Anyone who can tell someone else to fuck themselves in their very first post has a strong future among us.

      2. Or something.

        FA.  I like it.

Well, not really- but I like the characterization.

I’m not sure, but I think I made up MUS/MSU.

        And now I’ll poach FA.

  13. a number of shills, trolls and liars left this site. Some posted BS about how they were influential and we “just had to accept” that they were right. Can’t even remember them because they had absolutely NO influence.
