In yet another loss for political news coverage in Colorado, we’ve learned that 9NEWS political correspondent Adam Schrager, also co-author of the excellent primer on Democratic politics in Colorado The Blueprint, is leaving the station next month to take a position closer to family with Wisconsin Public Television. No word yet on who will replace Schrager for political reporting at the Denver market’s highest-rated television station, but we sincerely hope that a replacement is named who will focus on quality political coverage as Schrager has–and bring the depth of knowledge we’ve taken for granted in Schrager for some years.

I knew somebody that good was bound to move on. I’m happy for him. Truly. He’s closer to the Cubs again. Just sad for Colorado because he was the finest we have in the MSM.
you will be sorely missed in 2012.
For Coloradans who are still interested in solid political reporting. Our loss is the Badgers gain.
Here in Bresnanland, we don’t get 9 News and haven’t for years, but I always liked what he wrote and what I saw online.
Colorado will be poorer for his move, and Wisconsin Public Television just scored a great pick-up.
…it’s official – he will NEVER abandon the Cubs in favor of the local team.
I guess when the President calls you out for being a Cubs fan, you have to stick with your team.
I’m glad that Adam bailed from 9News – not so much for the local management, but for the fact that Gannett is in a terminal tailspin, and I’d hate for their dumbass business decisions to drag down Adam with them.
He is one of the only journalists I know that you really just can’t tell where he’s coming from politically, and he’s very blunt, but in a very civil way – a true political journalist.
Crap!
He had the authority to do real journalism.
He will be missed.
Can’t we just get the legislature putting him under arrest where he can’t leave the state?
You are an excellent reporter Adam. We will miss your insight and professionalism.
Good luck… and as they say in Dublin:
May the road rise up to greet you…
May the wind always be at your back…
and may you be in Heaven 15 minutes before the Devil knows you are dead!
We love you here, Adam. Sorry to see you lost to beer and cheese-land. I hope the weather brings you back to CO someday. Best wishes!
Until I heard all this about him being a Cubs fan. That is disappointing. Nonetheless, this is a blow to us; he’s a good reporter. Good luck, Adam, and the Cardinals will only be a road trip away.
And my mother-in-law taunts me regularly about my home team’s failings. Thanks for the reminder. Why don’t you just give me a paper cut and pour lemon juice in it? Thanks everyone for the nice thoughts and comments.
You would be happier at home, and during the postseason. Good luck, Adam. We will miss you!
Adam – you ought be hosting MEET THE PRESS on NBC
Regardless – I wish Adam well and I hope this is one more step closer to replacing David Gregory 🙂
