► Colorado Veterans took part in a rally yesterday in Aurora to encourage Congress to find the money to complete the Aurora VA Hospital. Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D-Jefferson County) was on hand to join the calls to “Finish the damn thing.” Also on hand was Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Aurora), chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations…and he told the crowd pretty much the opposite of what they wanted to hear.

► Speaking of rallies, more than 2,500 people turned out in rainy weather in Southern Jefferson County to voice their concern with the Jeffco School Board and Superintendent Dan McMinimee.

► Congressman Scott Tipton (R-Cortez) provided a nice wet blanket for a recent discussion about Colorado’s improving economy.

► Several political journalists remain convinced that Gov. John Hickenlooper is angling for a potential nomination as Vice-President in 2016. Hick says that ain’t happening, and we believe him.

► The Denver/Arapahoe County seat that is HD-3 will see a Democratic Primary battle next year, with Meg Froelich and Jeff Bridges both filing paperwork to run. Somewhere, Colorado Peak Politics is looking for a scoop that will turn out to be true.

► Now it’s 1-2-3-4 strikes you’re out when it comes to repeat DUI offenders. 

► Yes, Jeb, having George W. Bush as a sibling is going to be problematic in a bid for President. Whatever you’re trying to do here, Jeb, try something else.

► Lawyers and lobbyists have donated lots of money to candidates in Denver’s Municipal Elections. With all due respect to Jon Murray of the Denver Post, why is this a story?
