      1. We celebrated too soon. BTW. Now that you've filled your moronic comment quota for the day with just one word…. what do you think about the JeffCo/DougCo school board ass whoopings?

          1. You know, guys, she was a 21 year old intern and he was her rock star President and boss and old enough to be her father. I don't think it's really fair that she has to go through the rest of her life being a punchline for something that happened when she was a 21 year old kid while he gets to shake it off.  Just sayin'.

                  1. Isn't David an "anyone"? Oh, you must mean "anyone else" …?!?

i guess the other question might be, why does David need to remind himself, and couldn't he just tie a string around his finger, or something?

  1. Watched the Democratic candidate forum last night. I was impressed with all three candidates, as well as with Rachel Maddow's journalistic skills.

O'Malley got his chance to shine; I still like Sanders' policies better. Hillary is the consummate politician we all knew she was.

Real substantive discussion, compared with how Trump insults and preens, trying to push everyone else out of the Republican clown car.

    1. Like the way Rachel politely but firmly keeps asking when questions aren't answered. Either they have to finally answer the damn question or look bad making it perfectly clear they're taking the fifth.

Bernie stands out for answering directly without prodding. Unfortunately, leaving aside the whole democratic socialist thing (which is a biggie), my mom and I, now both little old Jewish moms, honestly don't believe a non-Christian is going to be elected President at this point in time. I think we'll have had our first African American, first woman and first Latino before we have our first Jew or anyone else not at least nominally Christian elected to the presidency.

My tribe will just have to keep ruling the world stealthily a la The Protocols of Zion.devil

      1. Don't give up hope, maybe the GOP will draft Netanyahu?  He's definitely right-wing crazy enough, Dog knows the GOPers in Congress already got a Bibi crush.  And, Adelson and his ilk could just donate directly then, Instead of having to hire moronic teabag proxies …

      2. Dammit, BC, I had almost sold that cover story that the Protocols of Zion were forged by the Tsarist Okrana.  Now, you've blown our cover!  Sigh.crying

        1. Americans already have elected a Jewish Vice President (Joe Lieberman). He was not allowed to serve after the election of 2000 was stolen by George W. Bush and the Republican Supreme Court. Also…

Americans are deeply religious, so will we ever see an atheist president? Here’s what we know.  (The Washington Post – March 23, 2015)  EXCERPT:

Americans have elected presidents who belonged to non-mainline traditions, most notably four Unitarians (and only one of them — William Howard Taft — faced opposition because of his faith) and two Quakers (Herbert Hoover and Richard Nixon) despite the denomination’s historic pacifism. A religiously unaffiliated individual (Andrew Johnson) and two men who had never joined a church (Abraham Lincoln and Dwight Eisenhower) also were elected to the nation’s highest office.

The only candidate in American history charged with being an atheist — Thomas Jefferson — was handily elected in 1800. Federalists repeatedly attacked him as an infidel who would destroy the nation’s Christian foundations and staunchly promote secularism. Several factors kept Jefferson from being defeated. Most important, the accusations were false — he believed in God, repeatedly affirmed God’s providence, and frequently worshiped in Episcopal churches, so many discounted these attacks as mere political partisanship. Jefferson also was popular and highly respected for his previous political service.

          1. VP isn't at all the same thing.  Quakers are certainly Christians. I doubt that either Eisenhower or Lincoln , regardless of lack of specific affiliation, would have considered themselves non-Christians. Unitarians don't believe in trinity and have a different view of Jesus than other Christians but Unitarianism is considered a theological movement with roots in Christianity and one that recognizes a very special role for Jesus.

We can quibble about these details but the fact is that we have never had a president who was a self proclamed atheist or of a specifically non-Christian or non-Christian rooted religion nor a religion that, like Judaism or Hinduism, doesn't involve reverance for Jesus.

  2. Adorable children cursing. For the record, kids should not cuss.

But it does capture exactly how young Latinos feel about Donald Trump.

"I'm not an anchor baby, pendejo!"

  3. So Trump hosted SNL, and was protested. Larry David called him a racist from on stage.  SNL basically ran the sketch as a freebie political advertisement for Trump, which was  disgusting. SNL writers must think that being over the top is just so freaking subtle that simple-minded liberal  literalists can’t understand why SNL would give Donald Trump five minutes to act out a sketch how great his administration would be,  A sample line: “Mr. President! The American people are just tired of winning all the time!” Trump: “I know. It’s exhausting.”

So that’s  just harmless satire, not shameless political pandering to boost their ratings. Not at all.  Cancha take a joke, libz? Wheresya sensa HyOOOOmore?

Trump’s chances are still 50-50 to be the Republican nominee, in my opinion. It depends on Republican women, who still, in spite of all the hype, still don't support Trump. 13% of Iowa women in 10/22/15 Quinnipiac poll supported Trump, vs. 33% for Carson and 15% for Rubio.  The 10/27 CBS/ NYT  poll had Trump at 19% among female primary voters, vs. 27% for Carson. Perhaps Carson will slip with the latest revelations about his dishonesty about his own biography.

Meanwhile Trump continues to annoy.  And SNL owes its devoted audience an apology. Plus, they probably owe every other Presidential candidate equal time.

If you'd like to boycott Trump's advertisers, here is a list of them.  They include Clorox bleach, Enterprise car rentals, On Star GPS.

For maximum effect, also send an email to the address listed, letting them know why you're not buying these products anymore.

    1. MADCO, when you write of Trump being "allowed to be front runner", you assume that there is someone, or some group, actually in charge, deciding and allowing. As we know up close and personal here in Colorado, the Republican party is fractured and imploding nationally. . No one's in charge. No one's making those decisions.

The inmates are running the asylum. They had to beg Paul Ryan to take the reins of legislative power, and are already sniping at him for being a dirty no-good collaborator in governance.

So it's entirely possible that egomaniac Trump , sociopathic Carson, or garden-variety grifters Rubio and Gardner, will be nominated by the GOP to become leaders of the free world.

In that context, voting for whomever the Democratic nominee is becomes much more urgent.

      1. I think MADCO may be suggesting there hasn't really been an all out retaliation by Chuck and Dave and the rest of the billionaires against the Trump juggernaut. He is a useful distraction from their real agenda, which,in my view has stayed their hand to a degree, but, as you say, they may not be able to rein him in before he completely destroys their chances of getting Jeb! or Marco to the top..

        1. I guess at this point, improbable as it seems, I'm kind of hoping it'll be Carson v. Clinton …

… if only for the chance to see all those exploding heads in the diners and breakfast stops all across rural, small town Dumphuckistan!!

          1. Could happen.  Assuming they don't run out of money soon, Iowa should clean out the stables of the less than 1 per center candidates.  Then New Hampshire should drive a stake into the heart of the Jeb! Campaign.

All of them are lookin' for a miracle.  None likely granted wink

    1. Some sect that had that same thing in mind came around my mom's 85% Jewish retirement community in Florida about a decade ago and met with so much hostility they left and and never came back. Don't mess with grumpy old greatest generation Jews would be my advice. They'll rip you a new one.

  4. I'm rethinking my earlier belief that Jeb! was done. The GOP is not going to nominate someone who thinks a single payer system is a good idea or that Planned Parenthood does some good stuff. They are not crazy enough to nominate Carson. I can't imagine they will nominate a person of color at the top of the ticket so that takes Rubio out of the running. Besides, Rubio has the baggage of immigration reform and the personal financial stuff. Cruz is nutty enough (but not too nutty) but I think McConnell and the rest of the establishment would put the kibosh on that. That leaves Jeb! standing alone.

Jeb! just needs to keep tredding water until the rest of them collapse. Like Mittens did 4 years ago. Or McCain did 8 years ago. Besides, it's Jeb's turn.

    1. This might be the exception that proves the rule. Both McCain and Romney were already doing considrably better than Jeb in the summers of  2007 and  2011 respectively. In fact Romney's position was pretty much like Trump’s is now, polling at 27% but close to a tie with Rick Perry. This is also the first time that a third member of the same nuclear family (or should I say nucyuler) has run and would make it every other president a Bush going back to HW. We’ll see.

      1. Romney started at the top. He dove for a while with the various nut cases taking the lead, but in the end it was still Romney.

It was imagined that Jeb! would fill that role, but he has never been at the top of the heap, and Trump has spent a good long time there now…
