(Your hundreds of thousands of comments are the living history of Colorado politics for five years and counting–we’re very proud – promoted by Colorado Pols)

No, it’s not a word count. But how many comments have you made on this site?

I’m up to 3,554. My first comment was this one:

Pro-economy?

I’m the anti-economy candidate. I’ll only exchange rocks for services. My campaign is not doing too well.

by: sxp151 @ Fri Sep 22, 2006 at 15:05:09 PM MDT

Oh well, it seemed funny at the time.

Do the following: type this into your URL line, removing single quotes around it:

Replace “sxp151” with your user name, and adjust the number at the end until you find your first comment.

If your name has a space in it, it should work fine in Firefox at least; if you have any trouble you can replace every space with “%20” like so:

What was your first comment?

If you’ve posted under a different user name, you can count them all together. I’m curious as to who is most prolific.

How many pages of comments do you have?

        1. I remember Nancy L Baldwin and Michael Dorsett MD and “The Blonde” were the same person as Sybil, and that Sybil was grateful when we finally figured out they were all aliases from the book.

I don’t think Robert Jordan and Sharon Hanson were part of the schtick.

          1. by that name, who wrote an enormous series (ten or so) of thousand page novels called “The Wheel of Time,” or something like that. He may have passed away sometime in the last several years; I canВґ’t remember.

  1. http://www.coloradopols.com/sh

    Free trade is for de

Free trade is for developing countries results in less people immigrating to the U.S.?  Guess what, it’s not working (look at the numbers since NAFTA)…

PS-Club 20 is a bunch of bloue haired dinosaurs who still think that digging up Western Colorado, building new dams, poisoning wildlife, and logging forests are our future.

    1. but in the time before, when one could post comments under whatever handle struck a fancy at that particular moment–I also used McLawyer-Lobbyist (before I ever saw PN use it)…KathyHalliburton…and a few others, not sure how to get to those comments, back in the day before ‘registration’…

  2. 6307 comments since 7/22/08. I’m not that surprised that it’s that many, but that’s about 12 comments per day. You want volume, RSB is your man.

    My first comment:

    Big Oil Bob

“Schaffer’s an effective campaigner when he’s preaching to his choir. He just can’t reach the other two-thirds of Colorado voters.”

Were you at the debate? That was the exact thing I took from it. Schaffer is not a likeable candidate. All he can do is whine about “Washington politics” yet he wants to go there to restore the GOP to what it was in the first half of this decade. He’s the one that truly represents politics as usual.

          1. I went to my comments page, and I changed the last little number at the end of the URL until I found my first comment. I just guessed on that number though until I found it.

            1. Most efficient way to do it (hopefully Dave will back me up on this) is to plug in any two numbers, one that works, and one that doesn’t. So let’s say I found

              was empty, and

              was full.

First thing to do is take the midpoint of 100 and 200, which is 150, and then plug in ‘http://coloradopols.com/user/sxp151/comments/150’

If it’s empty, I know the correct value is somewhere between 100 and 150, so I’d take 125 next. If it’s full, I know the correct value is between 150 and 200, so I’d take 175 next. Continue thusly.

Guaranteed to work in not-too-many steps.

        1. 4,000 comments after we switched to the new program. Lord. I spend way too much time on this blog. Thanks for doing mine, RSB.

As for the user ID, I was up early that day. 😉

            1. that’s sounds pretty accurate, although 5,000 UID’s were created on the first day so apparently, I wasn’t the only guy trapped on the weekend. 🙂

              1. When the blog started (on a weekend) at the end of March 2006, there was no official login system as we know it now – and no user diaries.  In July 2006 they added the login system, and everyone rushed in to get their login that day.  The July date is when everyone’s ID got numbered, not the March timeframe.

                1. But I don’t really care about my ID number nearly as much as some folks seem to. I don’t really care who’s been here the longest or commented the most as long as they feel like they are adding something to the conversation now.

  3. Like Twitty, I had comments in the before time but didn’t keep track of names before I had to. My first was Oct. 2, 2006:

    http://www.coloradopols.com/sh

    Can U.S. Rep Beauprez

… avoid the taint from Foleygate, especially with Stephanopolous lobbing the questions? I’ve looked around but haven’t found BB’s stand on whether Hastert, Boehner or Reynolds still have his support.

ROD can at least say “time for a change” — does BB saying “time to get out before the House implodes” carry the same credibility?

ROD would be Rick O’Donnell. How quickly they fade.

      1. User #1 is usually the superadmin support at Soapblox software.

Meanwhile, I was (and suppose I still am) user #8 as takebackthehouse.

But I am happy to be user #7667 and have the various houses where they are now.

    1. IDs 1 and 2 were, as noted, ‘soapblox’ and ‘Colorado Pols’

IDs 3-5 were the old guest front page diarists (Average Voter Guy, Blue Sky and Red Hawk); 6 was ‘alva’.  No-one ever posted anything under these IDs as the guest diarist system was temporarily retired in Feb 2006 (due to a lack of a suitable replacement for Red Hawk; back then, the Dead Guvs really wanted to maintain an even-handed front page, so the lack of a Republican guest editor was a problem…).  However, old diaries from the previous site were imported when the current site was created, so these IDs do have some diaries associated to them.

Thanks to this administrative technicality, I think I can lay claim as the active poster with the lowest user ID and oldest non-Colorado Pols diary in the system, as I was that masked front pager known as Blue Sky.

A user named ‘CitizenVoter’ apparently had the first true user diary (in July 2006, when they implemented a full login and user diary system – hence the user ID creation dates).

User ‘thinkin…’ was the first user to log in under the new system, followed by Aaron as TBTH.

  4. However, the oldest one is dated July 10, 2006, and I happen to recall that I first started commenting the spring before.

I’ve actually done this exercise before, and it used to show all the pre-registration comments too, so I don’t know why that’s no longer the case.

So, while this is definitely not my first Pols comment, it is the oldest that you can find, so here goes…

Hee hee, If “Guy Short is a god to me” is right, then the 4th CD is a land of radical wingnuts who don’t care that their representative is long on symbolism (gay marriage, gun locks) but short on substance. If that’s true, they’ll send MM back to Washington and enjoy 2 more years on non-representation, at least until the R’s in charge hit upon another tempest in a teapot with which to stir up the base.

Count me as someone who does NOT believe every “anymous” comment.

    http://coloradopols.com/diary/

    1. … Just noticed that the comments are out of order (that is, they’re not running newest to oldest on those last pages). So, here’s one that is the oldest I can find (but still is definitely not my first comment).

Socrates, Tancredo Watch has a lot more to his post than “personal attacks,” which is not something you can claim.

      http://coloradopols.com/diary/

Ah, that brings back memories. I picked the name “Aristotle” just to get under the skin of a handle-swapping dope named “Socrates.” My earlier posts were made under the handle “MFD” but I wasn’t satisfied with it. I’m pretty sure that those comments used to show up since I was using the same email address, but can’t find any of those now.

  5. I only have 234 posts in the last 3.5 years. That’s only 66 a year, and 1.2 comments a week.

I’m barely more than a lurker.

I guess my one anti-McCain diary from 2006 gives me a little more street cred.

  6. Progress is more important than posturing

And progress is more important than politics, too. When there is screaming from the extreme sides of either party, then I think our elected representatives likely did the best they could at that time with the issue. If one side is overjoyed and the other side is crying foul (or politics or whatever), then we’ve probably been saddled with bad legislation that will continue to be an issue that is jerked from left to right and back again and we never have progress.

  7. And I had my excuse all ready, to admit my newbie status as only being here from the middle of last year.

I was ready to proclaim my goal was quality, not quantity.

Sxp, you should have set your sights a bit higher. I am humbled, and honored, by the company I keep.

      1. I read:

No, it’s not a word count. But how many comments have you made on this site?

I’m up to 3,554. My first comment was this one:

        You then asked:

How many pages of comments do you have?

I hereby recind my vote.  Waaaaahhhh, no fair!

  8. Embarrassing.

    No life.

And I don’t even live in CO anymore.  However, Sweet Jeep just got her CO registration and tags again a couple of days ago.  I’ve had to apply for two waivers of emissions testing since I’m out of state.

I know if I ever put a FL license plate on her she would never, ever start again.  A very, very reliable car, she started having hissy fits when I hit St. Petersburg two years ago and then threw a slew of problems at me.

Not sure what that has to do with posting on Pols, but there ya are.

  9. And 21st ID – had to have been up early in the day (Aaron, MotR, Gecko, David) to beat me to the login.

I’m kinda weirded out by the account creation dates, though – the early ones are all dated July 11, 2006 – more than 3 months after the new site was up and running.  It’s also weird looking back at diary posts imported from the old site dated 2005 (with screwed up comment counts to boot…)

    1. Yes, the ID’s seem to have been issued in order of appearance by Polsters when that first “new” system was created. Apparently all the sock puppets were counted as unique polsters because, when they turned on the registration system (on 7/11/06) there were over 4500 unique profiles created that day. It’s taken from that point until just recently to double that number, and I think it was the spamming hacker (the one that created hundreds of accounts) that actually took us over the threshold.

FWIW, Gecko is number 17, so I think he beats you out for oldest active polster, even if he’s not an every day guy anymore.

      1. I tried to credit them above – Aaron Silverstein (posting as takebackthehouse), Middle of the Road, Gecko, and David (posting as David Thielen).

I win on a technicality though, because as Blue Sky I had ID #4 and an imported diary dated Oct. 23, 2005.  🙂

    1. You’re more interesting now that you aren’t running for anything(?).  Not that you weren’t interesting before.  Just something I’ve been noticing.

  10. Anyone know what hap

Anyone know what happened at the Adams County Assembly and who is running for commissioner?  Too early for results from other counties or not?  Let’s play politics, not games.

by: dwyer @ Sat Apr 01, 2006 at 00:00:00 AM CST

2244 comments and 112 pages.  If you guys had a font which was larger than 3 and if I could figure out how to do spell check, my count would be higher, I am sure.  Who is earlier than April 1, 2006?  Or was it just me and Dan Willis?

  11. My first comment back on that magic day of July 11, 2006:

what session were you tuned in to?

JM – the Dems did listen to the people and they passed the bills that the Gov asked for in his call. “The people” of Colorado are not only the individuals who signed the petition for the symbolic ballot initiative (as much as Rep. May would have us believe).

Right On – Dems did pass immigration bills last session and “the people” (again with ‘the people’) had nothing to do with the special session.  Ask three of your neighbors about the special session and my bet is you’ll get three answers that say – it was about politics – the Gov’s politics.

The R’s wanted a ballot issue so they could bring their base to the polls.  Well, now their base can vote on whether CO should sue the feds for the enforcement money we’re entitled to and they’ll vote on a measure of employment enforcement.

I applaud the Dems for taking a step toward enforcement.  The legislators did what they could within the Gov’s call and within a scripted session.

Although I’m pretty sure I posted before this comment….

    1. Your out of order first is:

      Coloradodem, are you

Coloradodem, are you speaking on behalf of the Human Rights Campaign on this issue?

by: Canines @ Wed Mar 01, 2006 at 23:00:00 PM MST

In “Nothing Says Unity Like Marijuana.”  That’s pretty funny.

I see an Aug 3, 2005, so it’s been awhile.

  12. Only 16 pages of comments, guess that is what happens when I took a hiatus and stopped posting for a couple of years.

I promise to do better in 2009.

    Denver Broncos… Still Suck!

    1. I believe there’s a “Go Raiders” without the * somewhere…

There were a lot of people who disappeared when that registration system went online. A lot of people must have been using fake email addresses before then.

      1. I used to post under Go Raiders with the email address of go@raiders.com (admittedly a bull$hit address) when I chose the handle just to piss people off…..

But since the switch, when I put Go Raiders* in for the search or look at my profile, it brings up my original one that I was using years ago when I posted frequently on this site.  Is OK by me, though I think I will have to contact Pols to get them linked together and start posting more.

At this point I cant even adjust any of my profile info.

        Denver Broncos… Still Suck!!!
